Why Do You Read?

I own more than 500 books at my house and I like reading. I have always enjoyed reading and I never haven’t. I am currently reading Swing Kings by Jared Diamond. This is a great book to read if you like baseball or you are interested in how baseball players started to hit home runs or even if you like science, you would most likely love this book like me. I have no idea how many books I’ve read in my life but my favorite would be Cheated by Andy Martino. It was a great and compelling book talking about all the cheating scandals in baseball history, even some scandals people didn’t even know about.
Now I have some favorite authors. My favorite is Dan Gutman. Dan Gutman writes all of these books about baseball card adventures and I love those books. They talk about science fiction but also a little history. They are so good! I have a lot of different genres that I read. Out of all the genres my favorite is historical fiction. Why, I don’t know who doesn’t love a little history! And some made up things that is why I loved the book series Magic Tree House by Mary Pope Osborne. As a kid, this was all I read in my early lower school years. I remember when I was in first grade reading Magic Tree House and I saw the word ‘absolutely’ and I said the word and it made me so happy and so amazed that I pronounced it.
Now choosing a book is like choosing a song. Hmm I have never read this book, should I try it so you try it and you love it. At least that is how choosing a book is like for me. In the comments, tell me some recommendations for books I should read or any books that you like.

Windows and mirrors today in this book review. I will tell you whether this book was a window or mirror for me. First, window and mirror books are this. A window book is something you don’t really relate to or do and a mirror book is something you’re around or or do. Now this book Hatchet was great. I loved it even though there were things I don’t really relate to but it was still great. The book was definitely a window for me. I don’t usually do adventure books but this one was definitely worth it.

If you didn’t know I am a Chiefs fan the Kansas City Chiefs to be exact I am a Chiefs fan because my uncle is a HUGE Chiefs fan why I honestly don’t know but either way I really like them. My favorite player is Isiah Pacheco who went to the college of Rutgers which is in Road Island.
Anyway we can talk about other teams now and let’s call it NFL Fantasy. Okay, I don’t know about you but I have a fantasy football team and it is awesome and so fun. This is my second year playing now and I’ve gotten so much better and have had so much fun. Here are some tips that I have learned and used. This first one I have had to learn the hard way. I used to take things way too fast. For example, in week one some of my players didn’t do amazing so I dropped them. This was a horrible decision just because after the draft it is really hard to get new good players so tip number two is hold on to your decent players even if they don’t do well in week one or two. Now third tip, losses aren’t the end of the world. Seriously 3 losses in 6 games is not that bad. Actually you’re never going to go 18-0, never, okay you’ll be good like 11-7. You are going to be in the playoffs and you might win actually.
Now to the real NFL. First off, I think it might be safe to say that the 49ers are going to win the NFC conference and my Chiefs will win the AFC. By the way, I am saying this 2023 just so everyone knows.
And the Bears who I kind of like and the Broncos are horrible, sorry but it is true.
My Baseball Team

Hi I’m Diego and I play baseball and love it!
Right now I am currently playing baseball for the Durham Blues, a travel baseball team based out of Durham, North Carolina.
Right now with my travel ball team we are playing our 3rd full season as a team together. Some of us like me have been on the team since the beginning and others have left and joined. We have lots of together and get along great. Together we have won two tournaments and came runner up in two also.
I love my team and along the way we have had a couple of long balls by my teammates (I’m getting there) . Once we hit back to back homers man was that a scene. There have been 3 kids on our team who have hit a home run over the fence. One of them has hit 2 (so awesome)!
Camp Kirkwood

I got dropped off on Wednesday the 30th of August 2023 and was heading to Camp Kirkwood in Watha North, Carolina. We were on a charter bus called Carolina Livery and went on a 2 hour drive. We watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs which was fine. There was A lot of rain when we got there so we went under a roof then found our cabins and after that we ate lunch which was not the best. Now let me just say the food was not the best but the games made up for it. On the first day we went to the pool, Kanga jump, and team building and even with a hurricane looming close to us. Later that night we had dinner and then played this game called battle ball which is a version of dodgeball. We played that and then got snow cones and then we went to bed.
The next morning we had breakfast and we went to the pool again which was very fun. Then I learned about trees which was fun but also boring. I had lunch and then we went on the v swing which is like a giant swing that you get lifted up and you start flying in the air. It was super fun. We had dinner and then we got showered, and we took pictures with our advisory, then went on a night hike. We sat by a campfire and made s’mores and went to bed.
The next day we had breakfast and then, I went canoeing with my friends where we almost died by going into a tree. Then we went on the zip line and that was really fun and then we saw one of the best parts of camp bubbles the pig and bubbles was awesome we all tried to pet him then we played Gaga ball and with no movie this time on the bus back to school we just played uno flip and just talked and then we were back at school and drove home.
Overall though it was a great experience and most of us had a good time so I guess that’s about it THE END.
